VADA CURRY

TYPE-South Indian Cuisine

Ingredients needed
  1. Channa dal-1Cup
  2. Onion-1 &1/2 Numbers
  3. Green Chilly-1 Number
  4. Fennel seeds-A little
  5. Tomatoes-2 Numbers
  6. Water-As per required
  7. Ginger garlic paste-1 Tsp
  8. Oil(Of any type)-As per required
  9. Salt-As per taste
  10. Turmeric Powder-1/4 Tsp
  11. Red chilly powder-1 Tsp
  12. Coriander Powder-1Tsp
  13. Garam masala powder-1/2 Tsp
  14. Grated coconut-3Tsp
How to prepare

  1. Soak channa dal for at least  two hour
  2. Grind channa dal along with salt, green chilly, half piece of onion and make a coarse paste.
  3. make small patties and deep fry it. Keep it aside
  4. In a pan, heat the oil. Add, 1 full onion which is sliced into small pieces, ginger garlic paste and saute well.
  5. When onion turns into light brown colour, add turmeric, red chilly powder, Coriander powder,garam masala powder and cook till oil oozes out
  6. Add tomatoes cut into small pieces
  7. Add a little water and close the lid. Keep the flame into the medium for 10 minutes
  8. Switch off the flame and wait until heat reduces
  9. Transfer the mixture into the grinder and grind it coarsely
  10. Heat the same pan again. Add oil, fennel seeds then the ground mixture into it.
  11. Add water and make it boil.
  12. Add the vada (Fried patties ) into the gravy 
  13. Add salt as per taste and close the lid for 5 minutes
  14. Meanwhile, Grind grated  coconut with  fennel seeds and water(Make the paste as fine as possible)
  15. Make the flame sim and add the coconut paste into it
  16. saute the curry eventually  for 1 minute
  17. Add a little raw coconut oil into curry after turn off the flame.
Delicious vada curry is ready to be served.
